Parga… the beauty of Epirus!

Access does not require a boat, but it looks like an island! The reference to Parga, a seaside town, located in the northwestern part of the prefecture of Preveza and overlooking the Ionian Sea, stealing the heart of visitors with its pride and inexhaustible beauty.

It is built amphitheatrically inside a green picturesque cove overlooking the verdant Island of Panagia, which stands haughtily in the calm waters of the port. Above it, the small church of Panagia with the characteristic all-white bell tower, as well as parts of a castle that was built by the French conquerors in 1808 in order to control the small ships in the port, which were not visible from the main castle.

As for the castle of Parga or the Old Venetian Fortress, it is the trademark of both Parga and the wider area. It is visible from everywhere and one can get there through the beautiful cobbled streets of the city and the countless shops and restaurants.

However, it is not the only surviving castle in the area. Just 5 km north of beautiful Parga is the Castle of Ali Pasha, on a hill between the villages of Anthousa and Agia. It has been maintained in very good condition and during your tour you will see the underground tanks, the firebox and the rooms of Ali Pasha, with the fireplace and the cabinets. The location offers excellent views of the Ionian Islands, while access is possible with the train that starts from the beach of Parga.

About 15 km from Parga, the most important ancient monument of the area, the ancient necromancy of the Acheron River, is located. Here the ancients believed that the underworld gates that led to the kingdom of Hades were located. At this point, Hermes led the souls, which were then taken by the boatman-Harrodas to pass them across, in Aherousia Lake, in the heart of which was the kingdom of Pluto-Hades and Persephone.
